Watch VideoThe 512ce is one of our first models to feature back and sides of solid red ironbark, a dense, hard tonewood that yields a rich, sophisticated response with a deep low end and high-fidelity voice reminiscent of Indian rosewood, along with some of mahogany's midrange punch and focus. The Grand Concert 512ce pairs red ironbark with a torrefied Sitka spruce top, lending a played-in character that makes for a warm, piano-like sound with remarkable balance across the tonal spectrum. With V-Class bracing inside, this compact acoustic-electric serves up room-filling projection and blooming sustain, offering a muscular quality that remains sensitive to a soft touch. Appointments include new Aerial inlays in Italian acrylic, a single-ring abalone rosette trimmed with maple and black purfling, and a tastefully subtle edgeburst. It ships with ES2 electronics in a deluxe hardshell guitar case.

That would not be an available option for this model. For an all solid wood GA, you would need to enquire with your dealer on a full custom build. This would be a custom GA, not a 500 series.

This is *almost* the exact guitar I'm looking for... any chance you could make it with the armrest that's on the 800 series?
The 500 series is not available with an armrest. A guitar with similar specs as well as an armrest could be ordered through the custom program.
Any chance you’ll ever have a 1 13/16” nut width for finger style players and/or larger hands?
Not that we are aware of at the moment. Some models can be special ordered with 1 7/8". 1 3/4" is our standard nut width for most of our 6-string acoustics.
What case do these come with?
Most 500 series models ship in a deluxe brown hard shell case made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection. The exception is the 517 which ships in a hardshell case with brown western floral covering.
Are 500 series guitars all solid wood?
Yes - all 500 series models are solid wood construction.
Where are these guitars built?
500 series models are made in our factory in San Diego, California, USA.

Love my 512ce ironbark
Love love this guitar ... even over an 812 and a 722.
Love the tone this guitar provides. Tons of volume, even in the GC body. Handles strumming (even aggressive) really well - I am mainly a strummer. Not sure how to define it, but the description used by others as muscular and powerful really seems to fit.
About tone ... all of this is to my hearing on particular guitars I listened to, your mileage may vary. To me, it sits somewhere in the middle between rosewood, koa and mahogany. Some describe is a blend of other tone woods. To me it sits in the tonal space between those other tone woods. It's clarity is between rosewood and mahogany. Sometimes rosewood seems too shimmering like the guitar has too of strings and you can pick out any particular notes, and mahogany can be too focussed on fundamentals. Ironbark sits between them. Koa, like rosewood, has overtones but not quite so many. However, the bass in koa can sometimes get to fat and muddy. Ironbark has the low resonance but allows the tone to still be clear. Rosewood doesn't seem to have that low resonance. Mahogany has the bass, but can be too sterile without enough warmth to the note.

GREAT Sounding Taylor Ironbark guitar
I have owned numerous Taylor Guitars over my 64 years of playing. Before this one i had a Buildwers Edition 816ce that I really loved. However, this 512ce blows it away this is by far the best sounding acoustic i have ever owned. I have owned, Gibson SJ200, Martin Eric Claption , a$12,000.00 McPherson which sounded great but was uncomfortable to hols. I usually prefer my acoustic to have a spruce top and Rosewood back, but the combination of the Torrified Spruce top with the Ironwood back and sides make this guitar sound like a million dollar instrument. I have been playing this guitar everyday since I got it, I can't put it down. This is a great instrument I have told all my fellow musicians about the great sound of this guitar.. I am a jazz player and most of my guitars are Archtop Guitars with floating pickups, i no longer play out but did for many years. This Taylor Ironbark is a keeper. H. Eidel

A superb well built instrument
Excellent tone and playability and very light! The electronics are outstanding and and very easy to use. I would recommend this guitar highly.

Love my 512CE LTD
I own multiple Taylor models: 512CE LTD, 714CE LTD, 414CE, K24CE, and a GS Mini-e Koa Plus. Each has its own distinct characteristics but all are a joy to play. The 512CE has a smaller body size which is more comfortable and the sound is a bit more focused than my other Taylors. Amplified, this thing just sings and provides a beautiful tone. It's hard to find anything to complain about with any Taylor. They make an excellent guitar at all price points and will serve you well if properly humidified and cared for.
